We’re lucky to have creative neighbours like photographer Hugh Stewart, whose studio sits just around the corner from BESS in Woollahra. Together, we captured a series of photographs celebrating delicate varieties of  Australian native wildflowers grown on Bess’s family farm.

Shot in Hugh’s beautiful studio, the images highlight the quiet details and textures of these uniquely Australian flowers. Best known internationally for his celebrated portraits — and for his work on film sets such as Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge, and Elvis with director Baz Luhrmann— Hugh brings the same intimacy and sensitivity to these still-life studies.

This collaboration was about shared sensibilities — and finding beauty in the delicate movement of each stem
