Ikuntji Artists At Mafw Look Book
Location:
Carriageworks, Sydney, NSW
Season:
Autumn — May
Overview:
We created the setting for Ikuntji Artists’ debut show at Australian Fashion Week. The collection represented the Luritja peoples of the Central Western Desert region. Ikuntji Artists is an art centre based in the remote community of Haasts Bluff, NT, with a population of just 150 people. For their debut, the artists wanted to bring the essence of the Western Desert to the runway on Gadigal Country, with a focus on plant species native to the central desert region.
Flowers:
Desert native Australian wildflowers, including Eucalyptus youngiana, Eucalyptus macrocarpa, Eucalyptus caesia, Eucalyptus orbifolia, wattle, native grasses, grevillea, red desert sand, banksia, and desert grass trees.
Colour Palette:
Earthy browns, soft pinks, warm yellows, and rich red desert sand.
Favourite Floral Detail:
Trees emerging from red desert sand, creating a striking desert landscape on the runway.
