Overview:
The David Jones Spring Flower Show is an annual celebration of spring at the Elizabeth Street flagship in Sydney, featuring immersive floral installations that transform the store into a vibrant spring garden. It began in the 1920s, when staff brought in simple blooms to decorate the counters and mark the arrival of spring. The event became a formalised annual tradition in 1985 and has since grown into one of Sydney’s most loved seasonal celebrations.

Feeling:
This year’s show celebrates Australia’s unique and diverse flora and culture, drawing inspiration from the artwork of Bundjalung interdisciplinary artist Kylie Caldwell.

Colour palette:
Bright pink and red, yellow and orange, white and blue.

Favourite floral detail:
An installation titled Mugaraa, inspired by Kylie’s woven artwork, depicts storm and rain rejuvenating the floral landscape below. Flannel flowers, mulla mulla, kangaroo paw, eucalyptus, and many more varieties appear to grow beneath the storm above.
